It feels like I've been working on this project forever, but really I just started and then forgot about it lol. Last week I finally finished and I LOVE, LOVE LOVE it!

I looked for inspiration on Pinterest but like my own soooo much better than any I found. If I was starting over I might desaturate the color on the photos a bit more, but you know ... hindsight ... Oh well, I still love it!

So after signing up for a Mason Jar Pin Cushion Swap, I was inspired to attempt my first pin cushion before my swap creation. One of the blogs I follow http://heartofagypssy.blogspot.com/ is Gladys Moreno who makes the prettiest pin cushions from vintage tea cups and anything pretty she can get her hands on.

Sooooo . . . following her examples I started sewing and stuffing little cushions. The first cushion I made was a little small for the jumbo sized mason jar I'm using for the swap, so I found this really cute pink ramekin in the $1.50 section and Michael's and created this little gem. I absolutely love it!! I use stick pins on the cover of most mini albums and on altered pieces, so having this pretty pin cushion to store them is perfect!

I am not one to just sit and watch TV, so if there is a show I really want to see I will sit and make stick pins in different color combinations while I watch. Now I can store them in a decorative way instead of just stuck into a piece of styrofoam and hidden. I have so many stick pins still in the styrofoam though I think I need to make another pin cushion already.
Well . . . what do you think? I absolutely love the way she came out! I created this for my friend's birthday (her favorite color is purple). I found this paper pad at Michaels and knew I had to get it and hold it to make her something. It has the most beautiful peacocks and feather prints, several of them in shades of purple. This is the paper pad:

I used patterned paper adhered to the front and back of a chipboard tag (I painted the edges of the tag with purple paint first). Then I stamped, texture pasted and went all Lindy's Stamp Gang on it. After it dried, I inked the edges and added my Prima Doll whose dress and stockings are also from the paper collection. She has a bit of crocheted lace, a fabric scarf and a touch of glossy accents on her hair and shoes.

I finished off the tag with some I AM Roses, a stick pin I made with beads from my stash, a stamped note (Stampin' Up), a Recollections bling border, some charms from my stash and one I made from a Tim Holtz acrylic fragment circle with paper from the collection, some baker's twine, ribbon and seam binding and voila!

On the back side I added a pocket (Sizzix die) with a friendship stamped image (Stampin' Up) with my birthday note inside. Here is a picture of the back:

Thanks for viewing stopping by to look at my Diaper Bag Baby Boy Mini Album. I created this album for a friend. The couple having the baby are not into really cutesy stuff, so I used this paper pad that’s just a but more edgy than your average baby paper. I really love the way it turned out.

You can see more of the album in the youtube video:

I used the hinge binding (Laura Dennison’s I think - but I’ve seen it so many times on youtube that I’ve lost track of where it started).

The thimble charm tassel I saw here: http://www.youtube.com/user/gladysgarden (she has some fabulous videos - take a look).

The micro mini album I saw here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OJkbRmMMeE&list=FLipu2K09pXKN1KZpXxPYbpQ

The album itself I just created like you would any mini except that I added the purse handles and the paper / buckle closure (it has a magnet under the buckle so you don’t have to actually unbuckle the paper strap). There are 7 page sets. Each page has front/back, a large fold out flap and a large side pocket with a tag. I’ve embellished only the pages you see when you flip through without opening the flaps so that inside the flaps they can include full sized pictures of the baby (either 5x7 or 4x6). There is room for 28 full size pictures plus what will fit on the embellished pages (another 14+) along with the 20 + various sized tags throughout the album (some as large as 4x5). With the hinges leaving a full half inch between pages, you can fit A TON of pictures in an album like this!

Thanks again for stopping by!
But, I decided, that she's probably so busy with the baby that she's certainly no looking at my blog (I hope). So, even though these are not great pictures (taken with my phone right after I finished it), I'm posting them as a "sneak peek."
The canopy actually opens and closes since the strips are held in place with brads. The wheels actually turn too. The design paper is Basic Grey "Out of Print."

I'll have to post some better pictures taken with my camera now that it has the baby's name and some cute charms hanging from the carriage push handle. I am really excited about how it came out though. It was fun to create and will be even more fun to give to my niece!

Thanks for checking out my carriage!

Okay, I know these pictures are not the best, but I took them at night with a really crappy light. But I just love how it turned out so I'm gonna post these pictures even though they are not good and then maybe I will put some better ones up later lol.

See . . . blurry and yellow light . . . ugh! But I took these quickly with my phone instead of using the camera, so that made a difference too. Now I know I saw the idea to use the legs on the side on someone else's project, but I can't give credit because I can't find the one I saw. So if I lifted this idea from you, let me know and I will give you credit and put a link to your project as well. I think this little cabinet came out so cute. I found it at a local thrift store (for like $.46) and painted it. The paint treatment is hard to see, but I have been wanting to try it on a bigger piece of furniture and thought I would start small.
The look I was going for was kind of like this one:

I think I got close but I didn't sand the edges at the end.

Then I just added all sorts of fun stuff inside. I made the little books using a tutorial on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnhKe7BLRJQ). I just altered the size to make them even smaller to fit in my cabinet. The little book on the bottom is like a small file with tiny photo mats inside to put kids' Halloween pics.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my Halloween Apothecary Cabinet!

Okay, this is totally a sneak peek because I am not finished with this yet. I have a skeleton to go in the balcony of the haunted house and my album is near complete. What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know. I started with a plain paper mache house from Hobby Lobby like this one:

I gave it a few coats of paint (okay, I painstakingly applied layer after layer until I got it just right lol), a balcony made from chipboard scraps, ragged cloth curtains in all windows, a chipboard door with real metal hinges and a door pull, not to mention spider webs and tombstones and voila! You have a haunted mansion perfect for housing my Halloween Mini Album. Here are a couple more pictures:

The one below shows the inside. I put "wallpaper" and a hanging picture on the back wall because with a couple of battery operated tea lights you can see through the windows. I painted the entire inside black before installing the curtains and adding "wallpaper."

So . . . what do you think? I totally love it. Of course I agonized over the cover like I always do, layering things on top trying to figure out if I was going to like it, because the minute you glue it down there's no turning back. But I really do like how it turned out. So here's what's piled on . . .

The two metal corners are die cut from metal tape and dry embossed using my sizzix. After that I added layers of emboss enamel and paint and then chipped some off to look really worn. The skeleton hand has been painted and distressed and wiped off again. I added three layers of lace to look like a vintage sleeve. I also added a jump ring with a rhinestone to create a ring. The skeleton is cut from design paper and embossed using an embossing stylus to give it some depth (of course I also adhered it with pop up tape for more height).Under the hand and skeleton is a black rose trim with a bit of black crocheted lace peeking out from just under the edge. I have added two stick pins I created using various beads from my stash, a teeny tiny glass vial with green "poison" in it (the lid is glued in) a frame I created with Amazing Mold Putty and Resin with a glitter spider from design paper, I Am Roses flowers and skeleton leaves colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst sprays, some bones and a tiny skull from my stash, a title tag from design paper, and to finish it off, a Tim Holtz door knob.

Whew! I think that about does it for the cover. Since I didn't show the spine, I don't have to tell you about that yet lol. I will be selling this house/album on Etsy or Ebay so when I show the finished product I will give all of these details again for anyone who is interested. Wait until you see how chunky this album is . . . I think the spine is 5" wide (I need to measure).

Well, there's the sneak peek, thanks for stopping by. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think.

"but we were on a break . . .!" All kidding aside, between closing shop (the attorney I work for has retired and aside from a few lingering cases we are finishing up we are closed), a Kern River camping trip, a Vegas trip with my bestie and her family, a three week road trip (main destinations Durango and Cripple Creek Colorado with many stops along the way) and my son starting a new charter school, it has been a doozy of a summer (yeah, yeah I know summer is over and it's really fall already). But now that kids are back in school and I'm trying to get a hold of my new schedule of being a glorified taxi (my 16 year old is in a hybrid independent study/online school through our district where I still have to haul him around to labs, language and for tests several times a week to the old district office (in another city). So, that being said, I am going to start posting again regularly and start showcasing some of my recent projects.

My first post (after this one) will be a sneak peek at my Haunted House and Halloween Mini Album (I think I will do a YouTube video on that one too). It is almost finished and I think it is coming out fab!

My next post will probably be a gift I made for my niece who just had a baby. I don't want to post it before I give it to her because I'm afraid she might see it (although she probably doesn't follow my blog lol). This one I am really excited about because it came out so stinking cute! I created the mini album first, then when I got the idea to make a baby carriage to house it, I had to size it around the mini album. It turned out to be a good fit, except that the next one (that's right I'm gonna make more!) will be a bit wider so that I can embellish the album front more.

Before I go, here is my favorite road trip 2013 photo of my boys and Gidget.

So, all that to say I'M BACK! Stay tuned . . .
I used the following items in my post (click below to see the paper on the Robin's Nest website):

Special Boy ~ Rocking Horse Specialty Paper

Special Boy ~ Special Delivery Boy Paper

Special Boy ~ Special Boy Tags

I started by distressing a piece of blue cardstock by sanding it and then adhering it to a piece of chipboard. Next, I cut a rectangle out of the Rocking Horse Specialty Paper (no measuring, just a quick couple of cuts). I cut various pieces from the Special Delivery Boy Paper and used distress ink to age them. My cut pieces were all triangle type shapes (nothing exact). I glued the Special Delivery paper (face down) to the underside of the opening in the Rocking Horse paper (wide end glued down). I then used a few different trims I had in my stash to surround the opening, and then glued the smaller end of the Special Delivery pieces down around the trimmed out area. I completed my layout by adding a "Little Treasure" tag and then adhering the Rocking Horse portion to the solid cardstock portion and then adding the piece as a whole to my frame. I just love the colors and the way the frame gives it such a finished look.

In these last pictures I added a piece of scrap paper to show how you would just insert your photo and glue it down . . . or I was thinking about gluing a mini clothespin at the top of the opening so that you could even change out the photo. What do you think?
I have some pictures of my youngest son riding a Harley Davidson toddler scooter that I know will go perfectly with this paper. With that in mind, I created this 4 page layout. I used:

Mango Flame Border

Mango Flame - Thermal Icing

Mango Cardstock

I think this paper is the perfect match for my little biker! The paper was a little bright for what I was doing, so to tone it down a bit I made a "wash" with gel medium in a matte finish and added a couple of drops of white paint and a couple drops of yellow ink. This gave me exactly the look I wanted. It was a more washed out, old look.

For the far right page I used the Mango Flame Border paper for the background. I created a pocket from plastic packaging. I used another portion of the Mango Flame Border cardstock and fussy cut the flames so that I could adhere them to the clear pocket so that I had a place to add a large tag. Adding the fussy cut flames above the patterned cardtock give the page a little more depth and more interest when your tag is out of the pocket. The second from the right page is a neutral page with a tag backed in Mango Cardstock given the same "wash" treatment. This pulls the pages together.

The second page from the left was created using the Mango Flame - Thermal Icing as the background. The paper has so much interest that you really don't need to do too much with it. I simply added a filmstrip die cut with a an insert to attach the photos so they can be pulled out revealing the patterned carstock behind. I might even put two more photos behind the tag so that this page can now hold 4 pictures. The first page from the left is another neutral page with a Harley Davidson sticker to finish it off.

My hot tip for this project is to use aluminum plumber's tape. I ran it through my diamond embossing folder and voila . . . faux diamond plate! I love the way this finishes off the layout.

Hi all! For my project this month I decided to concentrate on summertime table settings. With spring in the air and my husband readying the back yard pond and fountains and patio for guests, I wanted to create some fun new napkin rings. So out came my Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin (links below).

To start, I had to search for something to use as a base. I chose the cardboard center of a (or spool) of a roll of ribbon. Then, to give it some texture and depth I used my glue gun to add some stings of glue all over it.

Next I mixed my Amazing Mold Putty part "A" and part "B" in equal parts (see website via the link for detailed instructions).

Next, I made molds of this and some other items to use on my napkin ring.

Once my putty was set (about 10 minutes - or when you can scrape the side with your fingernail and it doesn't come off). The detail I was able to get in my mold was really quite amazing. With all of the mold I've created, I still wasn't sure this would work, but just look at the next picture to see how detailed you can actually get with your putty.

What do you think? I love how this looks like some high end metal napkin ring that I might have bought in downtown Laguna Beach; but really I made it lickety split in my craft room. Now I just need to make 7 more! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Don't forget to hop over to the Amazing Mold Putty website and check out their truly Amazing products!

I also mentioned in that post that you could use the crackle paper for a barbed wire look; so . . . that's just what I did!

In this project I used these Robin's Nest products:

Blue Crackle Cardstock (two sided)

I had some left-over pictures from our Deadwood trip and decided I wanted to make a mini album for my son (since most of the pictures are him lol). I decided to make a one paper mini which you can create from one piece of 12x12 paper, scored, cut and then folded. There are tons of tutorials with videos if you search it on youtube. In fact, I believe Terri Sproul did one with Robin's Nest paper (click here to see it)! I used the Blue Crackle Cardstock (link above) as my base.

I used pieces of the Cowboy Tag Kit (link above) to embellish my mini and scraps of the Calamity Jane Roses Cardstock (link above) which is a nice two-sided, heavy cardstock. I especially like how the silhouette sticker looks on the binding.

Okay, with all of the sickness in my house the last two months, I have posted nothing except my design team posts (and was lucky to get those up!). So here are a couple more pages of the Twilight Mini I started posting last month . . .

This is a paper bag album made from Kathy Orta's youtube tutorial so it has lots of pages that flip up and a ton of pockets! Because there is so much space (or real estate as Kathy calls it) there was plenty of room to include quotes from the books and movies. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for joining us on the Amazing Mold Putty blog hop. Stop at every blog on the list below and leave a comment on each one and you could win a prize! The theme is COLOR. If you know my work you know I usually use muted and grungy colors, so I tried to go a bit out of my comfort zone on this one. I created a Hello Kitty pen/pencil case to go with a journal I'm making for a friend's birthday. I had to get really creative with this one because I didn't have anything 3D Hello Kitty to use to create my mold. Sooooo, I used a two dimensional sticker like the one held in the clothes pin on the box. I had to carefully press the paper sticker into my putty using uniform pressure all over until it was deep enough to make an impression. Okay, I said two dimensional, but the sticker did have a bow and whiskers that were 3D, but still paper. Here's the way it came out:
I thought this was a pretty cool trick. Now I have so many more things I can mold . . . not just 3D objects! I then painted the medallion I created and adhered it to my pen/pencil box. I hope you enjoy my project!

Okay, so I know it is totally not Christmas anymore, but this post is one I didn't get to do at Christmas time so I'm doing it now!

Ever need to make multiples of an item you have . . . like 40 of them for a third grade class project? Well I did. As one of the room moms in my son's class, I came up with this ornament for the class to make and take home for parent Christmas gifts (the one above is the one my 3rd grader made). Most of it was paper and cotton. But can I make it easy on myself and make a paper belt buckle? Nooooooo . . . of course not! So, here's what I did. I started with making two single molds. I then made two "rounds" of belt buckles and then made a long brick from my Amazing Mold Putty, pressing all four of those buckles into the putty to create a "multiple mold." I was then set to make six buckles at a time. While 10 minute quick set Amazing Casting Resin is super fast (compared with others which can take 24 hours or more to set-up), can you imagine how long it would have taken to make 40 of these one at a time?!? I, for one, just don't have that sort of time. So this was a perfect solution to my problem.

To start, I mixed my Amazing Mold Putty using a 1:1 ratio of "A" and "B" (click on the link at the end of this post to go to their website for a tutorial).

Next, I pressed my metal buckle into the single small brick of putty I created. I then mixed my Amazing Casting Resin (use the link above for detailed instructions) - equal parts A and B. As soon as parts A and B are thoroughly mixed you can begin pouring into your mold (It will turn an opaque milky white when it is completely hardened unless you are using clear). Once it hardened (about ten minutes), I then repeated this process a second time to get my second single buckle mold. Once I had two buckles, I repeated this process another time making two at a time this round. Once I had four buckles, I then make a much larger (longer) mold putty brick and pressed all four of them into that brick to make it a "multiples mold." Take a look at my molds below.

Then I began making my 40 belt buckles. Since I certainly didn't want to mess around with trying to paint or color each of these belts in some way after they were made, I simply grabbed my Alumilite Metallic Powder in silver and quickly and easily brushed it into the mold before I poured my resin. The belts popped out already colored as you see in the ornament picture above (a close-up picture is below).

What do you think? I think they came out perfect! Amazing Mold Putty is so easy to use that I now make multiple molds even if I am just making a few of something because I am so impatient. I know when I am finished I can put the molds away for another use or I can pass one of the singles on to a friend . . . the gift that keeps on giving. What do you need to make in multiples? I know I say it every post, but I maintain . . . the possibilities are endless.

Okay, so in hindsight I went a little "My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Wedding Planning Album" all up on this thing, but I was trying to hide a seam and really should have just used ribbon, not lace. I don't like the lace but it was finished and what could I do? I really think the rest of the album came out cute - I should have made one for me too lol. Today I'm going to post the first few pictures and will post some more later this week. I've been home sick and then home with a sick child and am still catching up. So here's what I have so far . . .
The album is put together using "paper hinges" I created just scoring cardstock. I like this method because you can choose the space between your pages by how far apart you score it. That way you can have chunky embellishments without your book turning into a big "V" shaped monstrosity.

My son, who is a lego fiend (we have lego creations on every flat surface in our home - no really, EVERY flat surface) not to mention the tubs and tubs of miscellaneous lego pieces we have lying around.

When my son decided he needed to amass an "army of lego dudes" what else could I do but break out the Amazing Mold Putty and go to work?! Any of you with children in this age group know the cost of these mini figures. Well I knew I couldn't buy him an army of them . . . but I could make them.

So here's what I did:

I mixed my Amazing Mold Putty using a 1:1 ratio of "A" and "B" (click on the link at the end of this post to go to their website for a tutorial). I made a mold of a mini figure and his hat (separately).

The mini figure I did like I would any of my other molds, but the hat was a little more difficult. I put the hat in one-half of the putty I mixed for it and then stuffed it with the other one-half. I made pen marks on each of the mold halves so that I would be able to line them back up when I went to pour my resin. I then mixed my Amazing Casting Resin (use the link above for detailed instructions) - equal parts A and B. As soon as parts A and B are thoroughly mixed you can begin pouring into your mold (It will turn an opaque milky white when it is completely hardened unless you are using clear). I poured enough so that it seeped out slightly but did not completely overflow (this seemed to be the best way to do it - after a few tries).

This was the first one I made. They got better as I went. The one on the package was a fun way to accent a gift for a friend's birthday. No matter how many times I say it, I can't emphasize enough how versatile this product is and how much fun you can have using it! I made a bunch of mini figures and left them unpainted so I can choose how I want to paint them for a specific party gift. And . . . my son loves his army!

Even if it wasn't no odor, it would be fab just because the pump spray doesn't have near the overspray that the larger aerosol version of adhesive spray has and it has the same E6000 bond!

But even better than that I got to meet Mark Montano and got an autographed copy of his new book "The Big Ass Book of Bling." What a nice guy! Below is a picture (sorry Mark, I was too lazy to photoshop out my wrinkles or your shiny forehead - Maybe you won't remember that I promised eh?). The really funny part was when I got the new book home. In the few minutes it took me to change into my PJs, my 8 year old decided he needed to alter my new book . . . um here it is . . .

Me and Mark . . .

Autographed page (so sweet) I''m sure he wrote the same thing for everyone, but he was truly gracious . . . I got to do so many fun make-n-takes, see fab new products and and meet a ton of wonderful crafters! I met my friend Terri Sproul face to face for the first time, I met Mark Montano and tried out the new E6000 spray (see my next post for that info), I met Leeza Gibbons (what a wonderful and sweet lady . . . and her new hubby is so sweet as well), I saw Tim Holtz again, and met a friend of a friend, Christine Adolf of Splash of Color (formerly Creative Imaginations) and put together a sizzix teacup with Brenda Walton who is also as sweet as they come. And to top it all off, I gopt to stop by the AMP booth and see my samples and guess what? They had flyers that included me . . . my picture, a sample of my work and my bio!! Can you believe it? All in all a fab day. Tomorrow I will concentrate more on taking pictures of the fun demos, but here are some pics from today.

The AMP booth:

Me and Leeza:

Tim Holtz Booth. . .

Well I'm totally tired out so I will do one more post and then off to bed and back to CHA tomorrow. Just use the promo code: cardkitpromo when placing an order. Because I am on the layout team and not so much a card maker, I challenged myself to use the card kit (the whole thing) to create something fun and . . . not a card - lol. Here's what I came up with; what do you think? I just want to show you how much you can do with a card kit. Don't limit yourself!

I started with the Roses Card Kit which you can find here. I also used the following items:

Wedding Tag Kit (a few items)

Flame Dew Drops (red ones)

Flame Clippies (the king of hearts)

Heartfelt Creations Posey Patch Flowers Stamp and Die Set

So, other than those items I used some bits and pieces of embellishments and scraps of black cardstock . . . that's it!

I started by attaching the envelopes that come with the card kit in a W or mountain formation. I had an envelope flap left over, so I sandwiched it between two of the cards from the kit to create a front cover for my mini and then adhered the third card to the last envelope to create a back cover:

Then I pulled out the pieces of my card kit and turned it into a mini album. I created the front flower using the Heartfelt Creations stamp and die set (what a fun idea - you stamp first and then cut out the stamped images with a die - no fussy cutting!). Here are some pictures of that process:

This was my first try at an altered Altoids Tin, so don't mock it too badly - lol. I really like how it came out!

The tin itself was not difficult and there are a lot of tutorials out there (just google) so I won't go into that other than to say - don't cover it all with paper until you research - I did and mine wouldn't close so I had to make a loop closure for it.

In looking at samples others had created, I noted quite a few with frames on the front. And, since eventually, I would like to make a class out of this (once I get it right), I knew I needed more than one of whatever I chose to use on top! So, I chose some frames that I purchased in a kit a couple of years ago at a warehouse store. I know that I can't possibly find them again, so I had to be able to make more. And . . . in steps my Amazing Mold Putty:

I mixed my Amazing Mold Putty using a 1:1 ratio of "A" and "B" (click on the link at the end of this post to go to their website for a tutorial).
Next I made a mold of each of my frames and then mixed my Casting Resin (use the link above for detailed instructions) - equal parts A and B. As soon as parts A and B are thoroughly mixed you can begin pouring into your mold (It will turn an opaque milky white when it is completely hardened unless you are using clear or unless you added some dye to it like I did! I mixed one drop of the African American dye (Alumilite Dyes ) to side "A" before mixing the resin. Check out my step-by-step pictures below. You can see that the frames have a bit of color even before I play with them.
I chose the very last frame in the bottom right pictures to use for my tin. I then painted it black (I only needed on coat because it was not the white resin). After it dried I rubbed a bit of silver on it and it was ready to adhere to my altered tin. If you look closely, you can see a key I made and showed in an earlier blog post. . . couldn't alter the tin with just one molded item!
I really like the way it turned out. Next time I think I will go back and dry brush a bit of the black back on it to "dirty" it up a bit (like the key). Let me know what you think.

On one of my last posts I said I had planned to make a card from scraps but decided I wanted different paper. Well . . . this time I'm actually going to do it! I used my scraps from the Home for the Holidays blog hop and created this card. I used Robin's Nest Christmas Glitter Swirl (which I believe is not available, but a comparable paper that is just as pretty and the same weight is the Red Glitter Swirl), and Christmas Glitter Words (back side) scraps to create this card. The Christmas Glitter Words is one of those papers that I love because of the texture. The feel of this paper is so rich, similar to the linen feel paper I used on my "Give Thanks" card.

Having these scraps made the card so easy to make. I simply used a stamped image (and as you can see, I don't have many Christmas stamps so I just altered a palm tree stamp - I mean we are in South Orange County and it was sunny and lovely today, so it fits!) and after coloring it with distress inks and water brushes I adhered it to my Glitter Swirl paper and then to a piece of white cardstock and then onto my card base which is the Christmas Glitter Words (link above). I love this because it has a masculine look to it. So don't throw those scraps away . . . use them!
